La Palma is a volcanic ocean island and is the most northwesterly island of the Canary Islands, Spain. La Palma offers an abundance of tours for hikers in the Caldera de Taburiente as well as in the ancient laurel forests. The highest point of La Palma is Roque de la Muchachos at an altitude of 2426 meter. This hike is incredibly spectacular. The Caldera de Taburiente National Park is one of the most spectacular erosion craters in the world and forms the heart of La Palma. The best hiking trail is the Big Volcano Tour. This 17-kilometer hike runs from Refugio El Pilar to Los Canarios.
